About Me

Hi! My name is Haley, and I’m a former school teacher on a journey to finding my place in this world. For as long as I can remember, I’ve struggled with knowing who I was. I’ve spent precious years comparing myself to others, letting my joy be stolen from me.
I became obsessed with being pretty. What does that word even mean? We know it can mean physically attractive, and trust me, that was a massive part of it, but I discovered that the word “pretty” really just meant “enough”. It meant there was a place for me at the table, a system in which I was valued, loved, and cherished. When I felt beautiful, I was on top of the world, but those victories were always hollow in the end, when one word from a stranger could shatter my entire perception of who I was. Chasing this dream to be “pretty” cost me more than I was willing to pay.
I created Pretty Prairies to document all the ways I can define what pretty looks like without depending on others to decide for me. If you are tired of playing by the rules you thought you had to follow, stick around to get the latest tips on forging your own path. Along the way, I hope we can both learn that we are destined for so much more in this life than getting caught up in what other people think of us. Ultimately, it truly only matters what you feel about yourself and how you harness that confidence to show up in the world, even when trying is scary.
I am me, and you are you, so let’s show the world what pretty really looks like.
